Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal service while adhering to dietary restrictions and safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning resident areas, laundry, and sanitation duties
- Document care activities accurately in resident records and update care plans regularly to reflect changing needs
- Provide emotional support through active listening, companionship, and engaging activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation
Skills
- Proven experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care including Alzheimer’s and memory care strategies, and working with individuals with autism or disabilities
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training preferred; ongoing training encouraged to stay current on best practices in patient care
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physically capable of supporting residents’ mobility needs
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents’ families, and other caregivers
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and monitoring vital signs accurately
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience when working with individuals experiencing cognitive decline or behavioral challenges
