What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lumber Yard Forklift Operator position at H Bar Components?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Yard Material Handler II is responsible for safely receiving, stocking, organizing, pulling, loading, and unloading building materials while supporting efficient yard and production operations. This position requires reliability, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to company safety and service standards.
· Complete and document daily forklift inspections; promptly report safety or equipment concerns to a supervisor.
· Operate only equipment for which required training has been completed.
· Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety procedures.
· Verify material orders with the Pull/Pack Supervisor before loading.
· Ensure all material packages are accounted for and loaded correctly.
· Inspect trailers before loading to confirm decking and securement points are safe and serviceable.
· Load walls, roof trusses, lumber, and other materials using safe techniques for highway transport.
· Unload, organize, and store materials delivered by truck or railcar.
· Remove railcar safety cables before unloading and secure them for travel when work is complete.
· Move received materials into the yard promptly after unloading.
· Maintain sufficient inventory levels to prevent production interruptions.
· Document inventory transfers and submit records to the Inventory Manager at mid-shift and the end of each shift.
· Keep forklifts, the yard, and work areas clean and free of debris.
· Comply with company policies and applicable health and safety procedures.
· Support continuous improvement, customer service, teamwork, and organizational change.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
