The RN is responsible for patient-centered, total care of the patient on the floor, including basic nursing care and assessment and critical thinking skills to provide optimal patient care to prepare the patient for discharge. The RN will provide physical and psychological support to the patient, along with education for both the patient and their families.
***This is a full-time, night shift position (7PM-7AM, 3 nights a week)***
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collects patient health data and documents in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Analyzes the assessment data in determining the patient’s health problems.
- Plans patient care to attain expected outcome.
- Implements plan of care.
- Performs treatments or nursing procedures in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner which provides for:
- Effectiveness of treatment
- The patient’s physical and psychological comfort
- The protection of patient’s dignity and rights
- The maintenance of safety
- Follows hospital policy and procedure for administering medications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the use of equipment which is used on the nursing unit.
- Translates nursing decisions and physician’s orders into action promptly, using judgment and demonstrating an awareness of cause and effect.
- Gives verbal and written reports which are pertinent, precise, and complete.
- Initiates and maintains constructive relationship with co-workers.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current computer system used in the organization.
- Sets priorities for patient care.
- Organizes own time and activities effectively for giving nursing care.
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice.
- Utilizes supervision effectively.
- Assists other staff when possible. Floats to other areas as assigned; responds to floating requests with a positive attitude.
- Remains composed and directive during emergency and stressful situations.
