What We Are Looking For:
GZA is seeking a team-oriented GIS Technical Specialist who will leverage ESRI ArcGIS Technology for internal and external clients. This team member will transform data into clear, compelling visual products for technical and non-technical audiences. GZA’s goal is to leverage GIS to creatively solve problems, manage GIS data, conduct analysis, produce maps and mapping web applications in support of projects. Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently and in a project team with demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications, presentations, analytical skills, professional judgment, and team building skills. This position requires 4 to 8 years of experience with ESRI ArcGIS Technologies and can sit in any of our GZA office locations.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Produce high-quality maps, figures, and visualizations to support projects and decision-making.
- Play a key role in communicating spatial insights through maps, charts, and graphics that inform critical decisions.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and analysts to translate complex data into actionable visuals.
- Focus on cartographic excellence and impactful GIS visuals.
- Join an enthusiastic team in GZA’s Data Management, Analytics, and Visualization (DMAV) Practice Area
- Design, develop, maintain, and support web mapping applications for clients, both internal and external.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiencies.
- Stay up to date on GIS industry standards, tools, and ESRI technology releases.
- Contribute to internal ArcGIS platform user support and engagement.
- Support interoperability between GIS, AutoCAD, EQuIS and other specialized software / data services.
- Work with GIS leads to develop dynamic strategies to leverage GIS on projects.
- Assist with GIS initiatives and GIS projects.
- Perform other duties and special requests, as assigned by Management.
Skill Expectations:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in Geography, GIS, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or another related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience using ESRI’s ArcGIS technology suite.
- Proficiency in communication, technical writing/documentation, oral, and cartographically – the ability to convey spatial information to non-GIS user.
- Proficiency in ESRI’s ArcGIS platforms.
- Experience authoring, updating, and managing web services, web maps and mapping applications using ArcGIS Enterprise and Online.
- Data management experience.
- Experience with visualization of environmental site investigation information is preferred.
- Experience in a consulting environment.
- Team player attitude and mentality.
- Must be able to troubleshoot problems and find solutions independently - critical thinking and creative ingenuity.
- Must have initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to work efficiently and effectively alone and with a team.
- High degree of professionalism and conduct at all times.

- Confidence and ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
- Microsoft Office Suite (including SharePoint and Teams) advanced proficiency required.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic, environment.
Skill Preferences:
- GISP Certification preferred.
- Understand the fundamentals of Arcade and/or Python.
- Experience with mobile GIS/GPS tools including Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, QuickCapture, Trimble GNSS GPS (R1/R2, DA2).
- Experience scripting and automating geoprocessing.
