Position Overview
The General Manager (GM) plays a key role in contributing to the overall success of Gymit brand at both the Watertown and Brookline Club locations. The General Manager provides leadership and management to both Gymit clubs, directing club operations, and being accountable for club performance. As the GM, you are responsible for:
- Achieve financial performance results by generating memberships, personal training revenues, controlling expenses, meeting member experience targets and retaining members.
- Serve as a role model and direct, hire, and supervise Club Managers to ensure the day-to-day operations of the clubs run smoothly.
- Create a customer service focused environment that is friendly, welcoming, and supportive, creates raving fans and seeks to provide members and guests with exceptional experiences.
- Maintain a safe, clean and esthetically appealing physical environment including vision for multi-year facility improvements and upgrades to improve member experience.
- Work in partnership with other members of the Healthworks’ Group team and as an integrated member of the Healthworks Group Community and contribute to the effective and efficient running of the day-to-day operations and the overall success of the business.
- Work collaboratively with Personal Training Manager and VP of Fitness to ensure Personal Training revenue goals are met, trainers meet all expectations, and new members are welcomed and introduced to our training teams through our Kickoff process.
- Develop and maintain a schedule of events for Gymit to add value and drive community in our clubs.
- Lead Membership Sales strategy and marketing efforts to support membership growth and retention.
- Perform other duties as required. Employee responsibilities are subject to change at any time.
In addition to the primary roles and responsibilities, the General Manager embraces and follows the guidelines outlined in our Service Standards and plays a vital role in the success of the fitness department, club and company. Members of the leadership team always represent the company while they are in the clubs and must maintain a professional manner in dealing with fellow staff, members and guests. They must display a helpful and positive attitude, assist other departments when necessary and market their services to build their client base. Members of the Management Team are encouraged to communicate ideas on best practices to their leaders as well as colleagues.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt management position. Your daily schedule will vary throughout the week depending on the needs of the club, the staff, and the members. Your hours should include prime time and should allow you to interact with staff and members throughout the day. Time should be spent at both locations each week.
Special events, promotions, and other demands will require some early mornings, late nights and weekends. General Managers are expected to work the last two days of every month.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
