Position Overview
Gym X is looking for a full-time Basketball Development Coach to join our coaching staff.
This coach will work closely alongside our Head of Basketball Development while learning our coaching philosophy, training systems, terminology, and athlete development model.
Initially, you'll spend much of your time coaching alongside our lead staff while also leading individual workouts, small groups, and selected team sessions independently.
As you become more familiar with our program, you'll take on increasing responsibility with the long-term goal of becoming a key leader within Gym X.
We're looking for someone who loves teaching the game, enjoys building relationships with athletes, and wants to continue developing as a coach.
Schedule
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) consisting of approximately:
30 hours/week
On-Court Coaching
- Individual basketball training
- Small group sessions
- Basketball Performance Program
- Team training
- Camps and clinics
- Live play and competitive sessions
10 hours/week
Off-Court Responsibilities
- Session planning and programming
- Athlete evaluations and progress reports
- Parent communication
- Film review and basketball education
- Equipment setup and organization
- Staff meetings and coach development
- Camp and event planning
- Attending games
- Administrative projects that support the basketball program
Responsibilities
- Coach individual and group basketball training sessions
- Teach skill development that transfers to game situations
- Coach decision-making, live play, and competitive drills
- Build meaningful relationships with athletes and families
- Provide consistent feedback and accountability
- Help athletes develop confidence, competitiveness, and leadership
- Assist with camps, clinics, pickup runs, and special events
- Learn and implement the Gym X Basketball Performance model
- Collaborate with our Strength & Performance staff to provide a complete athlete development experience
- Contribute ideas while helping maintain consistency throughout the program
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5 years of basketball coaching or player development experience required
- Collegiate basketball playing experience required
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's degree preferred
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience coaching middle school and high school athletes
- Organized, dependable, and professional
- Strong basketball IQ
- Passion for teaching and developing young athletes

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
