Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Engineer with 0–3 years of experience to join our growing engineering team in Greater Boston, MA. This full-time opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to build expertise in HVAC system design, installation, commissioning, validation, and maintenance within commercial, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and industrial environments. The successful candidate will support engineering projects, ensure compliance with industry standards, and contribute to the development of efficient, sustainable, and reliable HVAC solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of HVAC systems for commercial, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and industrial facilities.
- Support HVAC calculations including heating and cooling load analysis, airflow requirements, equipment sizing, and ductwork design.
- Participate in system commissioning, qualification, troubleshooting, and performance verification activities.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Validation, Quality, and Project Management.
- Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives for HVAC equipment and building systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including ASHRAE, OSHA, and local building codes.
- Assist with energy efficiency assessments and sustainability projects.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, protocols, and project documentation.
- Support vendor coordination, equipment selection, and project execution activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 0–3 years of HVAC engineering experience, including internships or co-op experience.
- Basic understanding of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other engineering design software is preferred.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and HVAC industry best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- EIT certification or progress toward professional licensure is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, healthcare, or industrial facilities.
- Exposure to commissioning, qualification, or validation activities.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation controls.
- Familiarity with cleanroom HVAC systems and GMP-regulated environments is advantageous.
