SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director for Student Engagement, the Coordinator for Student Engagement helps provide a well-balanced range of student activities and programs to support the development of the co-curricular experience. The Coordinator plays a significant role in developing and implementing a comprehensive student programming schedule and serves as an advisor to the Student Activities Committee. In addition, the Coordinator supervises office student workers. The ability to work some evening and weekend hours is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Co-Curricular Student Programming
- Plans, develops, and implements a comprehensive programming schedule inclusive of social and educational programs and activities, including University Traditions such as Finals Breakfast and Christmas Tree Lighting
- Plans, develops, and implements a Grad Week as part of commencement-related programs. Organizes and schedules all meetings related to Grad Week
- Leads in planning and implementing Red & Gold Day, in collaboration with the Student Government Association
- Leads in planning, coordinating, and facilitating the Discount Ticket Program
- Assists with social and educational programs in support of New Student Orientation
- Assists with academic honors convocation and commencement-related programs
- Serves on campus-wide committees and task forces as required
- Assists with the hiring and training of professional staff within the department
- Attends professional development conferences as appropriate
Student Activities Committee
- Advises the Student Activities Committee. Responsible for all aspects of the operation, management and activities of this student group
- Develops and facilitates leadership training for the Student Activities Committee Executive Council and general members
Support for the Office for Student Engagement
- Assists in hiring, training, and supervising office student workers
- Supports office projects including, but not limited to: New Student Orientation, Activities Fairs, and Clubs and Organizations
- Posts on the Office’s social media accounts
- Assists in managing the digital board and portal announcements for clubs and organizations and occasionally the greater Gwynedd Mercy University community
- Follows the guidelines of the University Posting Policy
- Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Office for Student Engagement’s Business Center, Late Night Lounge, Rotelle Lounge, and 2nd Floor Waldron Lounge
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises office student workers and Student Activities Committee leaders. Manages vendor relationships. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the University's policies and applicable laws.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree required. At least two years of experience in major event management or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Master’s degree is preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, familiarity with web page design, experience using social media.
Interpersonal Skills
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality. Excellent communication and listening skills. Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to inquiries and concerns from various constituencies. Ability to represent the University and the Office of Student Services and Campus Life at the highest professional level.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently on projects and manage multiple tasks. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet many critical deadlines.
