What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior PR Specialist position at Gwinnett County?
The Senior PR Specialist collaborates with a team of graphic and web designers, video producers, and other public relations professionals to create high-quality, branded communications for Gwinnett’s residents, businesses, employees, visitors, and other stakeholders.
Essential Duties
- Creating and implementing communications plans to promote events, programs, and other initiatives and tracking campaign performance
- Researching, writing, and preparing content for social media pages, website, presentations, speeches, websites, newsletters, video scripts, and correspondence
- Providing guidance and expert advice to managers, clients, and peers on public relations strategy, to include campaigns and special events
- Accepting and providing constructive feedback and resolving conflicts in order to meet the needs of managers, clients, and peers
- Managing and maintaining County branding and style standards including font, image, content, and logo usage
- Reviewing content and designs for errors before printing or publishing final work
- Coordinating special projects and special events
- Assisting with media relations, including collaborating with media relations strategist to develop new releases, facilitate information requests, and conduct on-camera interviews
- Keeping a pulse on new communications tools/tactics and seeking new opportunities to reach target audiences
- Performing additional duties as assigned and working extended hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed to support the Communications Department's programs and services
- Leading meetings with client department
- Explaining job duties to youth and adults during outreach programming
The grade for this position is grade 101. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree AND
- 4 years of experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Driver's License
- Speaks Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, or another language
