What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extension Program Assistant position at Gwinnett County?
This Extension Program Assistant is responsible for providing customer service, problem-solving, and opportunities for citizens that focuses on developing youth, nutrition and health, meal planning, family finances, and aging.
Essential Duties
- Communicating with English, Korean or Vietnamese participants and community groups
- Working collaboratively with the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Extension Agent, staff members, volunteers, and other community organizations
- Developing and implementing public relations to promote student enrollment, and communicating program activities and objectives
- Performing a variety of clerical duties in support of program activities such as preparing, typing, duplicating, and filing materials
- Recording information, maintaining records, answering calls, and scheduling activities
- Participating in regular staff meetings, and assisting with in-service training
- Preparing and facilitating a variety of programs for youth, adults, and older adults
- Operating a variety of equipment (agriculture, arts and crafts, and office)
- Acting as a liaison between parents, staff, and schools
Public Speaking
- Assisting with preparation and facilitation of a variety of programs for youth, adults and older adults/seniors
- Promoting/marketing FACS classes, programs and trainings at health fairs and countywide events
Grade
Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
- Two years of experience in education or a related field
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid driver's license
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing Korean or Vietnamese
- Bachelor's degree in family and consumer sciences
- Experience developing educational, and nutritional programs
