The Risk Coordinator will serve as the primary underwriting Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Department of Financial Services Treasury Division. Through close partnership with the Risk Manager, the Risk Coordinator will periodically review standard insurance requirements for adequacy. The incumbent will routinely perform adequacy and compliance reviews of Certificates of Insurance for vendors provided by internal county departments. The Risk Coordinator will identify exposures related to large county projects to establish insurance requirements for vendors. This involves collaboration with internal business partners, including but not limited to, Purchasing Associates and department associates.

Job Description
The Risk Coordinator will serve as the primary underwriting Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Department of Financial Services Treasury Division. Through close partnership with the Risk Manager, the Risk Coordinator will periodically review standard insurance requirements for adequacy. The incumbent will routinely perform adequacy and compliance reviews of Certificates of Insurance for vendors provided by internal county departments. The Risk Coordinator will identify exposures related to large county projects to establish insurance requirements for vendors. This involves collaboration with internal business partners, including but not limited to, Purchasing Associates and department associates.
Essential Duties
- Collaborate with the contracted Insurance Broker of Record to review and update the established Insurance Requirements to maintain Risk Transfer practices that are industry standard
- Facilitate training to internal partners to support the acquisition of valid insurance documentation required for the insurance approval process
- Manage the maintenance of official records, files and related documentation as well as open records requests for litigation purposes
- Work to support claims and safety personnel as needed. Serves as the administrator for the Riskonnect system, and coordinator for vendor relationships
- Coordinate with other departments and Third-Party Administrator

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Risk Management or a closely related field AND
- Five years of claims experience OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Five years of underwriting experience
- Commercial insurance experience
- Insurance designation
- Broad underwriting experience preferred
