Job Description
The Recreation Leader will be assisting with the operations and supervision of a current Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Community Center. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with program implementation and development; preparing and processing class registrations, spreadsheets, and databases; completing room reservations; providing site tours; and completing set-up and tear-down of rooms, tables, chairs, exhibits, etc. in the facility and on the grounds for various activities.

Job Description
The Recreation Leader will be assisting with the operations and supervision of a current Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Community Center. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with program implementation and development; preparing and processing class registrations, spreadsheets, and databases; completing room reservations; providing site tours; and completing set-up and tear-down of rooms, tables, chairs, exhibits, etc. in the facility and on the grounds for various activities.
Essential Duties
- Supervising and organizing the desk/computer area while performing various reception and clerical duties
- Collecting fees for admissions, complying with all cash handling procedures, and making sure appropriate paperwork is completed for programs
- Monitoring an d supervising all activities and participants in a variety of areas, including classes, camps, programs, daily rentals, and afterhours rentals
- Organizing and maintaining files, records of programs, and user information
- Documenting first aid accidents and all incidents, assisting in placing phone calls, flagging down medical personnel, and providing crowd control during an emergency
- Creating signs as necessary to keep the public informed of current information
- Overseeing volunteers and assisting special interest groups
- Serving as back-up when the Program Supervisor and Program Leader are unavailable
- Performing daily housekeeping and maintenance duties inside and outside of the facility
- Assisting during special events
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Must be available to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
- This posting will remain open long-term to create a continuous pool of candidates for positions across multiple locations.
$16.80/hour
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, AND
- Valid driver's license
- Experience in Parks and Recreation and customer service
- Problem solving skills in interpersonal relations and oral and written communications
- Skill in developing resources for program/service information
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van
- Knowledge of Gwinnett County Park locations
- Experience in recreation programming, event planning, supervising, and scheduling
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- CPR/First Aid/Defibrillator Certification (must be attached to application) or must obtain within the first 3 months of employment (Gwinnett County will provide training opportunity)
