Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily practices that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
- Organize and oversee all aspects of the 7th grade girls basketball program, including scheduling practices.
- Teach the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive techniques.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and expectations.
- Monitor student-athletes' academic performance and provide guidance to ensure they maintain eligibility.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.
- Maintain equipment and ensure the safety of all players during practices and games.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on coaching techniques and best practices.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level or higher.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all players.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check and adhere to school district policies.
- Availability for practices and games during evenings and weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is a plus.
