The Department of Campus Recreation aims to provide fun, inclusive, and engaging recreational programming and facilities for the university's diverse community in the areas of intramural and sport clubs, fitness and wellness instruction and informal recreational opportunities.
Position Specific Summary
Lifeguards will be responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the Lerner Health & Wellness Center pool. Specific responsibilities include:
Attending trainings and audits as needed to ensure skills are up to date. Must maintain lifeguard certification throughout term of employment. Attendance at training on 8/23 is mandatory.
Standard Position Description
The primary role of a lifeguard is to ensure the safety of patrons in and around the pool and throughout the facility. Tasks may include: supervision of patrons, cleaning, policy enforcement, and coordinating use of all audio equipment. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid certifications (or equivalent) are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an indoor pool and performing chemical checks are preferred. We are looking for candidates with great time management skills and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
