Job Purpose:
With supervision from the Program Director, the Academic/Transfer Coordinator
for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is responsible for providing
comprehensive academic advising, transfer guidance, and career readiness
support to eligible program participants. The primary focus of this
position is to promote student persistence, degree completion, and successful
transfer to four-year institutions.
In
addition to individualized advising, the coordinator develops and facilitates
workforce preparation programming, supports program outreach and recruitment
efforts, and ensures the timely and accurate data entry required for federal
compliance and reporting.
This position collaborates closely with departments across Student Services.
It directly partners with TRIO SSS team members—including the Academic
Coach, Tutor, and Program Support Specialist—to provide a coordinated, student-centered
approach to academic and personal success.
Job Functions:
Academic Advising &
Support
Provides direct academic advising to TRIO SSS participants, assisting with
course selection, educational planning, and strategies for persistence and
timely graduation. Maintains a caseload of 100–150 students, conducts
weekly check-ins, and documents academic progress and interventions using
institutional systems and the Blumen database.
Transfer Guidance & College Readiness
Guides students through transferring to four-year institutions by offering
individualized counseling, coordinating campus visits, hosting transfer fairs,
and liaising with university admissions staff to support a seamless transition.
Career & Workforce Readiness
Develops and facilitates workshops that prepare students for career success.
Topics include resume writing, interview preparation, professional
communication, job search strategies, workplace etiquette, and networking.
Supports students in accessing internships and career-aligned
opportunities.
Programming & Workshop Development
Designs and delivers student-centered programming focused on academic success,
leadership development, financial literacy, cultural engagement, and career
exploration. Collaborates with campus and community partners to ensure
programs are relevant and impactful.
Outreach & Program Engagement
Leads efforts to recruit and retain eligible students in the TRIO SSS program.
Maintains an active social media presence to promote program services and
events. Builds partnerships across campus to support referrals and raise
awareness of available resources.
Data Management & Compliance
Maintains accurate and up-to-date student records in Blumen and institutional
tracking systems. Assists in collecting and organizing data for the
Annual Performance Report (APR) and ensures compliance with federal TRIO and
institutional guidelines.
Collaboration
Works closely with the TRIO Academic Coach, Tutor, Program Support Specialist,
and student services staff across the college to provide coordinated, holistic
support for participants. Participates in team meetings and professional
development activities to enhance service delivery.
