HVAC/R systems do much more than keep us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Virtually every home and business depends upon some form of essential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, providing plenty of work for skilled technicians. Greenville Technical College's HVAC-R program is well respected in the industry and is one of only two programs in the state accredited by HVAC Excellence, giving graduates the knowledge and skills to get hired and earn promotions. The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Department is dedicated to the training of students to meet ever changing needs of the air conditioning/refrigeration industry. The program will be continually monitored and improved to meet employer needs through the departments advisory committee, which is composed or representatives from local ACR companies. This diploma provides the students with the needed theory and hands-on experience to obtain employment in the residential, commercial, air conditioning and commercial refrigeration industries. The ACR program is accredited by HVAC Excellence. As of the spring 2018 semester there were 87 students enrolled, with 3 full-time faculty plus supplemental adjunct instructors. Program options include Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technology - Diploma in Applied Science; Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technician - Certificate in Applied Science; and Beginning Electricity & Refrigeration - Certificate in Applied Science.
In this challenging role you will be support the HVAC/R department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:
- Teach all students the working knowledge and skills to be a professional Heating-Air Conditioning-Refrigeration technician and the ability to operate all equipment used in this profession
- Prepare and present material at a pace that will foster student understanding and will, at the same time, permit coverage of vital concepts
- Advise students
- Participate in departmental, divisional, and campus committee work
- Maintain competence through continuous professional development
- Meet deadlines for record keeping
- Maintain scheduled office hours and follow guidelines set forth in the part time faculty manual
- Perform other tasks and duties independently as required by supervisor
