The employee will report to the department head for Benson Health Sciences, following institutional guidelines and curriculum standards. While they are expected to adhere to college policies and accreditation requirements, they exercise considerable independence in designing course content, selecting instructional methods, and assessing student learning. The employee must be able to function independently and direct others, specifically the ability to lead, collaborate, and facilitate groups. Faculty are trusted to use professional discretion in classroom management and academic decision-making. Regular evaluations and peer reviews help ensure instructional quality and alignment with institutional goals.
Work hours will vary due to the needs of the school and college. Online, or a blend of instructional methods may be required to meet departmental and or college expectations for the position. Travel may be required. Day and/or evening hours may be required. Management within the academic school is a complex job involving cooperative/joint efforts in the professional community. Programs are highly valued by the professional community and department accountability is high.
The employee must have excellent communication skills and be capable of maintaining an atmosphere that fosters learning. Employee must have the knowledge and skills demonstrated by RHIT or RHIA credentials.
