Position Summary
The Manager, Power Supply Contracting and Development Project Management is a high-impact role responsible for originating, structuring, and delivering new supply resources for Guzman Energy’s portfolio. This individual identifies and advances BESS, wind, solar, and gas tolling projects that serve cooperative, municipal, and large data center loads in SPP, WECC, and the Southeast. The role independently negotiates Power Purchase Agreements, leads and evaluates competitive RFPs, and manages the complete project lifecycle for Guzman self-developed battery storage projects from site control through commercial operation.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Origination & Resource Development
- Identify, screen, and prioritize BESS, wind, solar, and gas tolling opportunities across SPP, WECC, and Southeast footprints that align with Guzman’s customer load obligations and portfolio strategy
- Build and maintain a project pipeline through developer outreach, landowner engagement, broker relationships, and active monitoring of interconnection queues and regulatory filings
- Evaluate project economics, resource quality, interconnection status, permitting risk, and counterparty creditworthiness to support go/no-go investment decisions
- Develop financial models (pro forma, IRR/NPV, sensitivity analysis) to assess project viability and inform pricing strategy in competitive situations
PPA Negotiation & Structuring
- Lead negotiation of PPAs and energy offtake agreements with developers, independent power producers, and asset owners — from term sheet through execution — with minimal supervision
- Structure supply agreements to match the load profiles, hedge requirements, and procurement objectives of cooperative, municipal, and data center customers
- Coordinate with legal, risk, and credit teams to ensure contract terms are bankable, credit-appropriate, and compliant with applicable tariff and regulatory requirements
- Manage multiple active negotiations simultaneously with disciplined counterparty communication and internal deal tracking
RFP Management & Analysis
- Design, issue, and manage supply RFPs on behalf of Guzman or its customers, including development of evaluation criteria, scoring frameworks, and bid analysis
- Analyze RFP responses across price, technology, contract terms, project certainty, and counterparty risk; prepare recommendation memoranda for senior leadership and customer boards
- Respond to supply RFPs issued by cooperatives, municipalities, and large load customers, coordinating cross-functional inputs into competitive bid packages
- Maintain benchmarks of comparable market transactions and technology pricing to inform bid strategy and advise customers on market conditions
Self-Developed Battery Project Management
- Lead Guzman’s self-developed BESS projects through the full development lifecycle: site control, interconnection applications, environmental and land use permitting, and EPC procurement
- Manage relationships with landowners, interconnection authorities, permitting agencies, equipment vendors, and EPC contractors
- Develop and track project schedules, budgets, and milestone deliverables; proactively identify and mitigate schedule, cost, and technical risks
- Coordinate with operations, finance, and legal to ensure projects are structured for financing readiness and long-term operational success within Guzman’s portfolio
Market Intelligence & Customer Support
- Monitor regulatory, tariff, and policy developments across SPP, WECC, and Southeast jurisdictions that affect resource procurement, project siting, and storage economics
- Support account management and customer-facing teams with supply strategy analysis, procurement planning, and customer board presentations
- Track technology cost trends (particularly battery storage), competitor activity, and emerging large load growth opportunities including data centers and large industrial customers
Qualifications
Required

- Familiarity with cooperative or municipal utility procurement processes, governance structures, and board dynamics
