Job description:
The Sr Director of Field Operations role is to oversee field operations and ensure that Solar construction projects are successfully completed on time and within budget while meeting safety and performance requirements. Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of field operations, ensuring efficient execution of projects and achieving company goals. This includes, but is not limited to leading teams, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. Predominately a field based role. The Sr. Director of field operations will identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance while leading, motivating, and developing field personnel including technicians and supervisors.
Job Responsibilities
- Control labor, material and other job costs and hold accountable Operations personnel in the Field, Office and Support roles to avoid cost overruns. Quickly and effectively implement strategies, training, and protocols to fix issues when overages occur.
- Assists with project takeoffs and safety plans.
- Understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect Solar Operations.
- Establish, monitor and enforce zero tolerance policy for violating safety protocols.
- Provide guidance with respect to personnel, staffing, training and disciplinary action for the departments in which you oversee.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with Partners to align on goals, streamline processes, and resolve operational issues with a heightened sense of urgency.
- Participate in the development of long-term operational strategies and goals.
- Monitor and analyze field operations data, prepare reports, and provide insights to improve decision-making.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and internal departments and/or personnel.
- Oversee field operations related to residential and commercial projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, budgets and project completion.
- Develop and implement field operational strategies, plans, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective execution of projects.
- Orient and train all new Field Staff. Manage personnel development, set weekly, monthly and quarterly performance goals and reviews performance.
- Meet with each member of their team at least once a month for One-on-One Meetings.
- Direct day-to-day on-site supervision assisting with difficult construction issues, ensuring proper job start-up. Make regularly scheduled visits to job sites to perform walkthroughs; monitor construction progress and quality control and ensure compliance with safety standards; monitor job site organization and signage.
- Assist with providing technical assistance (interpretation of drawings, recommendation of construction methods and equipment, etc.) as required.
- Ensure all company policies, procedures and standards are adhered to by all operational personnel.
- Develop training programs for the improvement of all field personnel.
- Work closely with Human Resources to document and resolve personnel issues.
- Assist with recruiting efforts; participate in screening and interviewing candidates.
- Meet with the Executive Management Team weekly to review jobsite issues and Project schedules. Review daily reports for detail and accuracy.
- Follow up with Project Managers to ensure issues are resolved and projects are on schedule and within budget.
- Ensure daily job site inventory is maintained and accurate for all job sites: tools, equipment, material and safety equipment.
- Review and approve purchase orders. Develop, review and monitor two week look ahead with Supervisors.
- Oversee punch list completion items and sign off on all projects
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- 5 years experience with Solar Construction management
- Worked for a $50M-$100M construction company, subsidiary or branch
- Has led 6-8 direct reports in current or past positions
- Strong project management and organizational skills; demonstrated track record for flexibility and urgency in prioritizing and organizing projects
- Considered subject matter expert in the end to end operations of Solar, Construction and/or Home Improvement Sectors
- Excellent communication (written and oral), and problem solving skills Expert-level skill with Microsoft computer skills, i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, proven ability to inspire and motivate others
- Ability to recognize construction issues & problems relating to the Solar install, and recommend and implement corrective measures
- Ability to manage multiple high-stake projects simultaneously
- Think creatively and seek innovative solutions to complex technical & business problems related to the Solar industry
- Capable of creating and presenting powerpoints
- Excel, Google suites, email
- Ability to quickly learn CRM
- Work with confidential information and understand the critical nature of privacy
- Reliable transportation to and from the office/jobsites
Salary : $110,000 - $160,000
