What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Specialist position at Guy Fenter Education Service Cooperative?
The Early Childhood Specialist supports the implementation of and continuous improvement of high-quality early childhood practices across the GFESC Local Lead catchment area. The EC Specialists will provide direct support to early childhood providers by coordinating and conducting CLASS® observations, supporting educator growth, and strengthening adult–child interactions through coaching, needs-based foundational training, and data analysis. This position plays a critical role in building sustainable educator capacity and improving classroom quality. The role blends technical expertise, instructional coaching, data analysis, and relationship-based support.
Essential Responsibilities
Professional Development
Plan, coordinate, and deliver evidence-based professional development for early childhood educators.
Adapt professional development content to meet the needs of diverse learners and program settings.
Support implementation of curriculum, assessment tools, and best practices aligned with state and organization standards.
Model effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
Collaborate with teachers to set goals, develop action plans, and monitor progress.
Classroom Observations & Assessment
Assist in coordinating CLASS® observations across the catchment area aligned with ADE timelines.
Conduct observations with fidelity
Analyze observation data to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Ensure accurate data records and entry into myTeachstone
Data Use & Continuous Improvement
Collect and analyze data trends across programs
Collaborate with the Local Leads Team and community stakeholders to identify regional improvement priorities
Translate data into actionable strategies for educators
Collaboration & Communication
Build strong, trusting relationships with early childhood providers, directors, and community partners
Participate in team meeting, planning sessions, and cross-agency collaboration
Support alignment of efforts across Local Leads initiatives
