ABOUT THE POSITION:
Source One Transportation is a leading player in the oil and gas industry, committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its workforce, assets, and the environment. The Oil & Gas Safety Specialist will contribute to the maintenance of a safe and compliant work environment. This person will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and policies in adherence to industry standards, regulations, and best practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to identify and mitigate potential hazards, conduct thorough safety inspections, and provide training to employees. Additionally, the role involves investigating incidents, analyzing data, and recommending improvements to enhance overall safety performance.
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work processes to identify and rectify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of safety considerations into daily operations and project activities.
- Provide training to employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and the proper use of safety equipment.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Stay current with industry developments, regulations, and best practices to ensure the continuous improvement of the company's safety programs.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Obtain and recap Near Miss Incidents for education and learning.
- Complete all new driver onboarding and training.
- Lead safety meetings and collaborate with the team on topics, Toolbox Talks, etc.
- Track customer specific training and ensure all drivers are up to date with their trainings.
- Report to customers as needed:
- Near Miss Incidents
- Stop Work Incidents
- KPIs
- Contractor Management
- Perform driver observations to ensure they are following customer and company policies.
- Complete Tank Audits
- Ensure current sub-contractor agreements are in place and applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CDL Preferred w/ HazMat & Tank endorsements Proven experience in safety management within the oil and gas industry.
- Logistics degree would be applicable as well or equivalent relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, OHST) is preferred.
- Proficient in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and developing safety training programs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures and crisis management.
