What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Product Manager position at Guthrie AI?
About Guthrie AI
Guthrie AI is a VC-backed seed-stage startup providing Virtual Bid Assistants for commercial glazing and architectural metals trade contractors. Our AI-Native Service pulls scope out of RFPs, manages RFIs, and generates proposals — so estimators stop missing deadlines and start winning the work they actually want. Guthrie AI is in market and running live bids for 50 paying customers.
The Opportunity
We’re at roughly $2M ARR, and have an ambitious plan to 10x the business in the next 12 months. We have a CTO and seven engineers, and we’re looking to make our first Product hire. Today the founders and a team of estimators operate the platform on their behalf. We are moving from ‘low automation’ to ‘high automation’ mode, where AI agents will do the work, with light reviews from humans in the loop. This key hire on the Product team will own turning the rest of our workflow into product — in the right order, without breaking what already works. You’ll report to our Co-Founder and Head of Product, with a direct line to the CEO.
What You’ll Own
• A product surface end-to-end. You decide what ships next inside your area and why.
• Weekly spec-to-ship cadence. You write the spec, you sit with engineering, you QA on a live customer bid.
• Customer and operator immersion. Sit with our estimators and contractors running bids. Watch the work. Specs come from observation, not interviews.
• The services-to-product call. Decide which pieces of the workflow are ready to move from human-operated to software-operated, and in what order.
• Success metrics. Cycle time per bid, scope completeness, vendor-quote turnaround, win-rate where we can measure it.
What You Bring
• 4–8 years in product, with at least one prior role at an early-stage startup. You have shipped product, not just specced it.
• A track record of owning a product surface end-to-end. PRD, standup, demo, QA, metric movement.
• Speed. You ship weekly, write specs in docs not decks, and prefer a v1 in front of a user Tuesday over a polished v3 on Friday.
• Domain humility. You’ll spend your first month learning how a glazing estimator actually bids a job. You’re excited about that, not annoyed by it.
• Strong written communication. PRDs engineers can build from, notes contractors will actually read.
• Fluency with modern AI tooling — Codex, Claude Code, Agentic Workflows. You treat them as production tools, and are excited about continuing to learn these.
• Comfort in a founder-led, in-person, build-it-yourself environment.
Nice to Have
• Construction, AEC, glazing, curtain wall, or architectural metals exposure.
• Vertical SaaS or AI-native services experience — you’ve taken work humans used to do and turned the right parts into product.
• Technical background. You don’t need to ship code, but you should be able to read it.
Compensation
• Base: $150–$200K, with plenty of growth opportunities for the right candidate
• Equity: Meaningful early-employee grant.
• Flexibility: Outcome-focused team means you can work the schedule that feels right for you
