ITS Project Manager Intelligent Transportation Systems

We are seeking an experienced ITS Project Manager to lead complex transportation technology projects focused on connected systems, automation, and advanced traffic operations. This role combines project leadership, technical oversight, and stakeholder engagement to deliver innovative transportation solutions from concept through deployment.
<>Role OverviewYou will manage multidisciplinary teams delivering intelligent transportation and mobility projects, including connected and automated systems, communications infrastructure, and advanced traffic management technologies. The role requires strong project management skills, technical understanding of ITS systems, and the ability to work across public-sector stakeholders and private partners.
<>What You ll DoLead ITS projects from initiation through delivery, managing scope, schedule, budget, and risk
Supervise and mentor cross-functional technical teams
Oversee deployment and integration of connected, automated, and traffic management technologies
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, partners, and stakeholders
Develop and execute strategies for outreach, communications, and technology transfer
Collaborate with engineers and architects to define system requirements and technical approaches
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and cybersecurity best practices
Prepare and deliver technical documentation, reports, and presentations
Support business development activities, including proposal development and client engagement
Identify project risks, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure quality across deliverables
Participate in professional working groups and communities of practice to support technology adoption
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Transportation, or a related field
7 years of experience in transportation technology or related domains
3 years of experience in project management or technical leadership
Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder technical projects
Strong understanding of ITS architectures, connected systems, or mobility technologies
Experience with systems engineering concepts and solution architecture
Experience supporting business development or proposal efforts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Jira or similar)
Ability to work independently in a hybrid/remote environment
Willingness to travel up to 50%
Eligibility for a Public Trust clearance and authorization to work in the U.S.
Master s degree or PhD in a relevant field
PMP, PE, or similar professional certification
Experience with connected and automated systems or large-scale ITS deployments
Familiarity with traffic simulation tools or modeling environments
Exposure to cloud-based systems, edge computing, or AI/ML applications
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for distributed systems
Established relationships with public-sector or industry stakeholders
Experience transitioning technologies from pilot to operational deployment
