What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Care Cashier position at Gurnee Park District?
DESCRIPTIONS
The Customer Care Cashier is expected to work from the hours of 10:30am until 7:30pm and sometimes as late as 9:30pm from mid-May until early-September. The Cashier will report directly to the customer care manager on duty and will be responsible for proper cash handling, cash register use, and customer care or possess ability to learn quickly. The Cashier must be at least 14 years of age (16 preferred due to conflicting labor restrictions with hours of operation). Applicants must be reliable, punctual, and mature. All applicants will be hired on the basis of an application, availability, experience and an interview.
ESSIENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a satisfying experience to all that visit the facility.
- Learn and implement the proper procedures for patron entry including accepting various forms of payment, use of basic computer applications, issuing receipts, and enforcing residency requirements for all patrons.
- Complete the steps necessary for the sale and processing of aquatic center passes.
- Attend and be accountable for information and procedures presented at In-Service Trainings.
- Communicate to Managers when your drawer becomes full so that regular deposits can be made to the safe for safety of staff and effective collection of fees.
- Inform managers immediately if you feel a cash handling mistake may have been made.
- Keep accurate attendance figures and properly complete all daily paperwork.
- Properly execute opening and closing procedures.
- Follow, promote and help implement the Gurnee Park District Customer Service Standards (SOFIE).
- Have a good knowledge of Aquatic Center policies and procedures and consistently enforce them.
- Take necessary steps to ensure a safe and sanitary work place. Clean and organize workstation during and at the end of each shift. Do spot clean up in traffic areas.
- In an emergency situation, assist with crowd control, direct rescue squad and open gates.
- Aid the Managers in keeping the cashier area neat, clean, and in order at all times.
- Read and understand the Gurnee Park Districts Personnel Policy Manual, Aquatic Manual, and Customer Care Manual.
- Perform all other duties as assigned, confidently and to the best of your ability.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform seasonal maintenance tasks to prepare the facility and area.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: Previous Customer Care experience is preferred but not required.
- Education: No formal education is necessary.
- Skills: Good communication skills necessary, self-starter and self-motivated individual.
- Certifications: No certifications necessary.
- Competencies: Applicants shall show competency in the following areas: Able to follow cash handling procedures; able to communicate facility rules, fees, and other sales information to guests, readily recall details necessary to perform the job, communicate clearly through written and verbal communication, responsible, dependable, be detailed oriented, demonstrate self-confidence, work cordially with all staff and patrons and should be motivated to sell!
