Gunter Construction is seeking a driven and experienced Construction Superintendent to lead heavy civil construction projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong planning, communication, and field management skills who can safely deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations for heavy civil construction projects, including street rehabilitation, concrete paving, flatwork, dirt work, and municipal infrastructure.
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee all phases of construction from project startup through completion.
- Supervise field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor project budgets, production, labor, materials, and equipment costs.
- Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules to keep projects on track and identify upcoming resource needs.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, inspectors, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Conduct daily job-site inspections and weekly safety meetings while enforcing OSHA and company safety standards.
- Review daily reports, timecards, production quantities, and project documentation for accuracy.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites while promoting accountability, teamwork, and quality craftsmanship.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil or concrete construction.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Superintendent or field leadership role.
- Proven experience managing projects involves: Street Rehabilitation, Concrete Paving, Flatwork, Dirt Work
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and project schedules.
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations and construction best practices.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Experience with KCMO, MoDOT, KDOT, and APWA specifications.
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
