Central to this mission is the "Piscataqua," a single-masted wooden boat that serves as Portsmouth's only full-time Tall Ship. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Portsmouth, NH for a Summer Camp Counselor specializing in Marine Science and Conservation. The counselor will lead and facilitate engaging activities related to maritime and environmental education for campers of various ages. Daily responsibilities include organizing and executing camp programs, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, fostering a positive learning environment, and collaborating with staff to create memorable and educational experiences.
- Experience in camp settings and a passion for working with children and youth
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with campers, colleagues, and families
- Lifeguarding certification preferred, with the ability to ensure camper safety during water-based activities
- Background in education, teaching, or facilitating learning activities, preferably related to marine science or conservation
- Enthusiasm for maritime heritage and environmental conservation
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- First aid and CPR certifications are a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or coursework in education, environmental science, marine biology, or related fields preferred
