Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Landscape Manager to oversee the daily field operations for a growing high-end landscaping company specializing in full-service maintenance, seasonal installations, irrigation, and design-to-install garden management. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has deep horticultural and technical knowledge, and can manage teams with professionalism and precision.
Key Responsibilities Crew Oversight & Job Execution
- Ensure all crew members follow proper horticultural practices including:
- Turf mowing techniques and grass species identification (warm-season turf)
- Proper string trimming and edging standards
- Debris cleanup with air blowers
- Weed identification, pulling, and spraying protocols
- Installation of pine straw and mulch with proper tapering and coverage
- Seasonal color design, layout, and installation per specifications
- Train, inspect, and enforce SOPs across maintenance and install crews
- Oversee quality control across multiple properties and service types
Irrigation & Fertilization
- Adjust irrigation systems for turf, shrubs, and annuals as part of seasonal maintenance
- Understand and apply granular fertilizers and pre-emergents to landscape beds
- Interface with irrigation techs and clients on irrigation audits and improvements
- Identify water pressure and coverage issues and coordinate repair
Plant Knowledge & Design Implementation
- Strong working knowledge of Zone 9a–9b plant materials (trees, shrubs, perennials)
- Confident reading and interpreting landscape designs, including:
- Plant counts, layout, spacing, and grouping logic
- Coordination of plant deliveries and layout according to plans
- Provide feedback to designers and installation leads on feasibility or substitutions
- Understand the basics of hardscape and paver installation for collaboration on full-scope jobs
Qualifications
- 5 years in landscaping operations or a field supervisory role
- Strong plant knowledge for coastal Southeast landscapes (USDA Zones 9a/9b)
- Proven experience in managing multiple crews and job sites
- Proficient in reading scaled landscape plans and organizing plant installations
- Working understanding of irrigation systems and turf maintenance
- Technologically proficient (email, spreadsheets, scheduling tools)
- Excellent communication and people management skills
- Organized, process-driven, and client-focused
