JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Financial Accountant supports month-end close and reporting, with an operations-focused scope, within the Financial Accounting group.
The group supports both corporate and operations functions. This position is based in the Oklahoma City office.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Month-End Close & Journal Entries
- Prepare, review, or post monthly and quarterly journal entries (e.g., capital and LOE accruals, property tax accruals, prepaid insurance).
- Perform other accrual or reclass entries as needed.
- Analyze changes in leasehold, capital, and lease operating expenses to confirm accuracy and identify needed corrections.
Reporting, Reconciliations & Rollforwards
- Prepare or review monthly and ad hoc schedules including internal reporting, reconciliations and rollforwards
- Analyze actual expenses for variance analysis with AFE and Field Estimates
Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Support process improvement development and implementation within the department.
- Perform special projects to compile cost data for management and operations.
- Support technical projects such as system testing and system enhancements/development.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Proficient with MS Office applications; advanced in MS Excel
- Proficient personal computer skills including database maintenance
- Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, analytical skills with a high attention to detail
- Must be able to work independently and make decisions with and without direction
- Must be self-motivated
- Excellent oral and written communications skills

- Knowledge of the Quorum Upstream system preferred
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Oil & Gas experience in accounting preferred
- Minimum 4-8 years of accounting experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, along with equipment necessary to design, draw, and execute plans.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. The ability to use a computer, tablet or smart phone for extended periods of time. Basic use of office equipment such as copier and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload and needs of the company.
TRAVEL:
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
