Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. based in Nappanee, Indiana is a leading name in the recreational vehicle (RV) industry, dedicated to creating high-quality, innovative RVs that provide exceptional comfort and adventure for our customers with a legacy spanning several decades is looking for a Director of Purchasing to join our team.
As our next Director of Purchasing you will develop procurement strategies, manage our vendor relationships, negotiate for materials to meet production needs, control budget, analyze market trends, ensure quality of materials, supply change efficiency, inventory management and lead the purchasing team. This role reports to the CEO & President.
General Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage team of Purchasing Agents.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies for raw materials, components, and services.
- Source, evaluate, and manage relationships with key vendors.
- Secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and quality standards for all production items.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production leaders to ensure adequate materials for production.
- Stay current on RV industry trends.
- Work and communicate with engineering, operations, finance, and sales to meet business goals.
- Source materials for product changes, improvements, and new developments.
- Delegate tasks effectively to all plant purchasing agents to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor shortages to prevent production delays.
- Manage new item requests, track obsolete materials, and negotiate pricing with vendors to ensure cost efficiency.
General Requirements/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.
- 10 years of Purchasing in the RV Industry.
- Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal ability.
- Innovative thinker – Proficient in technology procurement systems.
- Experience in leading a successful team.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to negotiate competitive pricing and terms with suppliers.
- Ability to analyze data and trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a drive for success and continuous improvement.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work alone.
