Position Description: SkillBridge Sales Externship
Reports to: Area Sales Manager
Position Objective:
Goldring Gulf is proud to offer a SkillBridge externship exclusively for transitioning service members seeking hands-on experience in sales, customer relationship management, merchandising, and beverage distribution. This learning-focused opportunity provides exposure to one of the nation's leading beverage distributors while preparing participants for a career in professional sales.
As a SkillBridge Extern in our Sales team, you'll gain experience across multiple sales teams to develop a well-rounded understanding of the beverage distribution industry. Externs begin by learning operations and product knowledge before rotating through merchandising, marketing, and both on-premise and off-premise sales teams. This structured program is designed to build the knowledge, skills, and relationships needed for a successful career in sales.
Responsibilities Include
Product Knowledge & Warehouse Operations
- Learn the beverage distribution process from receiving through customer delivery
- Develop a strong understanding of our product portfolio, including beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages
Merchandising & Retail Execution
- Work alongside Merchandisers to learn retail merchandising standards
- Assist with product stocking, rotation, displays, and point-of-sale placement
Sales & Customer Relationship Management
- Shadow experienced Sales Representatives across multiple market segments
- Learn territory management, route planning, and account prioritization
- Develop an understanding of consultative selling and customer service excellence
Reporting & Business Analytics
- Learn to interpret sales reports, performance metrics, and key business indicators
- Observe how data is used to identify opportunities and improve execution
- Gain exposure to territory planning, sales forecasting, and business planning tools
Qualifications:
- Must be a current transitioning Active Duty service member eligible for the SkillBridge Program
- Strong interest in delivery operations, logistics, or commercial driving
- Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, carrying, loading/unloading products)
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn hands-on skills
Description of Physical Tasks:
Keep shelves and vendors clean. Place product on hand truck or dolly (approximately 20 to 50 lbs per case). Pushes/pulls hand truck to machine or shelves and loads appropriate company products. Volume will vary per account and will range from 1 case to over 1000 at any given time. Climbing in and out of vehicle and proper lifting techniques.
