This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be able to understand and perform the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of the following using safe rigging and handling practices:
- Steam Turbines
- Centrifugal Pumps
- Reciprocating and Vertical Pumps
- Gear Boxes
- Marine drive trains
- Align machines and equipment, to specified tolerances with minimal supervision, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and indicators.
- Lay out, drill, and tap mounting holes, using measuring instruments,
- Level bedplates and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit.
- Fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified components, using interference fit by means of pressing or portable gas heating equipment and/or cryogenics.
- Use precision measuring instruments to make measurements within specified tolerances.
- Write condition reports for each job performed.
- High School Diploma and/or one year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
- Industrial and/or marine equipment repair experience:
- 1st Class: 3-5 years
- 2nd Class: 1-3 years
- Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, etc.
- Must wear hearing, eye, and head protection.
- Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.
- Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.
- Aboard ships, both on and offshore.
- Some travel is required.

- Hydraulic jacks and other lifting equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals in order to reassemble and align according to specifications.
- Reasonable knowledge of machinery, bearings, fasteners, seals, mechanical applications, and their tolerance requirements.
- Perform basic mathematical functions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High performance and strong team player.
- Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures with minimum supervision.
