This role will help manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger activity, payroll and benefits accounting, job costing, reconciliations, month-end close, and management reporting. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a growing shipbuilding, marine manufacturing, and government-contracting environment where accuracy, accountability, and cross-functional coordination are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting Operations & Close

Own the general ledger and maintain accurate, complete, and timely financial records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial statement preparation.

Prepare recurring management reports, cash-flow updates, balance-sheet schedules, and financial analyses for executive leadership.

Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent coding across departments, projects, vessels, programs, and legal entities.

Coordinate with outside tax, audit, banking, insurance, and financial-service partners and support annual tax and audit requirements.

  • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

Oversee vendor setup, invoice review, three-way matching, approval routing, payment processing, and accounts payable aging.

Manage customer invoicing, progress billings, receivables, collections, cash application, and accounts receivable aging.

Verify that purchasing, receiving, invoicing, and payment records are properly supported and aligned with contractual and company requirements.

Maintain strong vendor and customer account records while resolving discrepancies promptly and professionally.

  • Job Costing & Project Accounting

Establish and maintain job-cost structures for vessel construction, fabrication, systems integration, demonstrations, and other project-based work.

Track labor, materials, subcontractor costs, overhead, commitments, change orders, billing milestones, and project profitability.

Partner with operations, procurement, production, program management, and executive leadership to review budgets, forecasts, estimates at completion, and cost-to-complete data.

Monitor work in process, inventory, revenue recognition, and project margins; identify cost variances and financial risks early.

Support accounting practices needed for government-funded or government-facing contracts, including accurate cost segregation and supporting documentation.

  • Payroll, Benefits & Compliance

Review payroll inputs, timekeeping records, labor allocations, deductions, benefits charges, and payroll-related general ledger entries.

Reconcile payroll and benefit accounts and coordinate with HR and third-party providers to resolve discrepancies.

Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local reporting, payroll tax, record-retention, and financial-control requirements.

Develop, document, and enforce accounting procedures, approval thresholds, segregation of duties, and internal controls appropriate for a growing organization.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

At least 2 years of accounting leadership, supervisory, or controllership-level responsibility.

Demonstrated experience with job costing, project accounting, or manufacturing/construction accounting.

Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, balance-sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working in an ERP or full-cycle accounting system.

Ability to work on-site in New Iberia, Louisiana and collaborate closely with finance, HR, procurement, production, operations, and executive leadership.
