Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical and Technical Service Apprentice (Paper Mill)! You will be integral to supporting maintenance, fabrication, and assembly operations while gaining valuable experience with advanced equipment and technical processes. Responsibilities

  • Travel to Paper Mill sites about 20-50% of your work time.
  • Complete mill maintenance work to proper specs.
  • Compile reports.
  • Train new team members.
  • Inform mill management of mechanical and technical problems.
  • Make parts.
  • Communicate with mill personal.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery including CNC lathes, milling machines, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Support the setup and operation of CNC programming and machining processes using Fanuc controls and CAM software.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CAD models to ensure precise fabrication.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify component dimensions.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and tooling to assist in assembly or repair tasks.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste across shop operations.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols including proper use of forklifts and other equipment.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with an interest in manufacturing or machining environments.
  • Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and technical tasks.
  • Experience or coursework related to CNC programming or CNC machining is advantageous but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
  • Ability to operate precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines is a plus.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques and power tools is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
