Summary
The HR Generalist intern will work closely with the HR team to support various aspects of the department’s functions including but not limited to, supporting the recruitment process, assisting with onboarding, coordinating programs, and maintaining and updating information in the company’s Human Resources Information System.
*Local candidates strongly preferred with the possibility to remain as an intern through the remaining of the Summer and the Fall semester based on eligibility and satisfactory performance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in sourcing candidates through online channels (e.g., job boards, social media, professional networks) and other creative methods.
- Screen resumes and applications to identify potential candidates that meet the job requirements.
- Coordinate and schedule interviews, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for both candidates and hiring managers.
- Assist with administrative tasks.
- Attend recruiting events and represent the company.
- Support the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing onboarding materials and conducting orientation sessions.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and filed appropriately.
- Help maintain a positive workplace culture through participation in team-building initiatives.
- Support the coordination of training programs, workshops, and other company programs.
- Help gather feedback from training sessions for continuous improvement.
- Assist with the preparation of HR reports and presentations.
- Conduct research on HR best practices and trends to support ongoing improvement efforts
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
Requirements
Skills/Experience/Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree; Human Resources, Labor Relations Majors preferred.
- Minimum preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Be a highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Possesses critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis. Please note, Gulf Coast Bank & Trust will not provide any assistance or sign any documentation to support immigration sponsorship or benefit including but not limited to optional practical training (OPT) or curricular practical training (CPT).
Essential Mental & Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 15 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division any “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
