Gulf Breeze Zoo is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Commissary keeper to oversee daily food preparation and inventory operations for our animal care team. This role is responsible for managing commissary inventory, ensuring USDA compliance, maintaining food safety standards, and preparing daily animal diets accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities:
- Oversee ordering, receiving, labeling, and storage of commissary supplies
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or waste
- Ensure all commissary operations comply with USDA regulations
- Prepare and portion daily animal diets according to established nutrition plans
- Accurately follow feeding instructions for multiple species
- Maintain high standards of food safety and cleanliness
- Properly sanitize work areas, equipment, refrigerators, and freezers
- Follow proper handling procedures for raw meats, produce, and supplements
- Ensure all storage areas meet temperature and safety requirements
Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food preparation, inventory management, or related field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
