Sales Associate 

Guilford Press, an independent academic/scholarly publisher of evidence-based works in Psychology, Education, Research Methods, and related fields for professionals, students, and general readers has an immediate opening for a Sales Associate to help expand our direct sales efforts and drive revenue growth. 

The Guilford Sales Associate has the primary goal of driving direct sales campaigns that target current and potential Guilford customers. In addition, they’ll be responsible for scouring lead data and online resources to identify key contacts for these sales campaigns, and either lead these campaigns personally or complete the research in support of other members of the sales team who will lead these campaigns. They’ll manage administrative tasks in support of multiple sales and marketing needs/initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Operations/Sales but will collaborate greatly with Marketing and other groups across Guilford. 


Responsibilities 

  • Research, identify, and capture sales leads aligned with targeted campaigns designed by sales leadership. 
  • Develop and execute a proactive outreach strategy to engage potential clients through calls, emails, social media, and networking. 
  • Track and report sales metrics, pipeline progress, and revenue forecasts to management. 
  • Manage administrative tasks, as assigned, around lead integrity, marketing support to select channel partners, and other sales enablement tasks as needed. 
  • Act as a funnel point for contacts that come in through Customer Service, Fulfillment, and other Guilford teams for qualification and conversion to leads. 
  • Represent, virtually or in person, the company at select industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build brand visibility and fuel sales pipeline. 


Requirements 

  • At least 2 years of experience in the publishing industry with a general understanding of the book publishing process, sales, and/or customer fulfillment/support. 
  • Strong research and prospecting skills with the ability to turn insights into actionable business opportunities. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Proficiency with CRM software and lead generation tools. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills that translate free form research into targeted list generation and contact information. 
  • A mind for innovation/solution-crafting.

Work Arrangements 

Guilford Press is a New York City-based company that has embraced hybrid work arrangements. This position may be remote, or hybrid with a combination of remote and in-office work from Guilford’s midtown New York City office. 


Compensation 

The pay range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 annually, with additional sales incentive opportunities available. Hiring salary is dependent on skills and experience. Guilford’s comprehensive benefits package includes eligibility for medical, dental, and vision benefits as of hire; HRA and FSA arrangements; employer-paid disability insurance; 401(k); 401(k) match; annual profit-sharing bonus considerations; commuter pre-tax benefits; and professional development opportunities.
