In this energetic role, you will support the clinical team by assisting with the dentists, managing sterilization, assisting with Hygiene charting, scanning patients dentition and supporting the front office team. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of treatments including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures
- Take dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as portable x-ray units, PANO machine and 3D scanners while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols
- Assist with treatment planning by entering treatment into patient files, periodontal charting and entering existing treatment.
- Assisting with administrative responsibilities such as confirmation calls, follow up calls, insurance calls, contacting labs.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) in Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance for confidentiality
- Provide vital signs monitoring and medical documentation to support safe treatment planning for patients with diverse needs
- Support infection control practices by adhering to aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA standards
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health best practices to promote ongoing wellness
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with proficiency in dental assisting tasks and familiarity with dental terminology is a plus but not required.
- Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
- Skilled in operating dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners; experience with medical imaging is a plus
- Competent in managing electronic health records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Open Dental; understanding of medical coding is advantageous
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during general dentistry procedures as well as specialized fields like endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating appointments and patient flow
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology a plus; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are desirable
