Position Summary Basic Function: Has responsibility for managing and maintaining science department laboratories, stockrooms, and equipment (ordering, receiving, and inventory) and overseeing departmental collection and disposal of hazardous wastes. Responsible for preparing teaching laboratories and training and supervising student lab assistants. Specific Responsibilities: Oversee laboratories, prep rooms, and stockrooms in the Frank Family Science Center, including purchasing, receiving and storing of supplies, organization of chemicals, and maintenance of inventory, including chemical databases and safety information. Maintain vendor relations to provide for cost-effective purchasing. File monthly expense reports for purchases on campus purchasing card. Prepare science laboratories for teaching, including preparation of reagents, specimens and equipment. Hire, organize and supervise student laboratory and stockroom assistants. Coordinate collection and disposal of hazardous waste with appropriate college employees. Arrange for maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment. Perform and/or arrange inspections of laboratory safety equipment and arrange for maintenance and repair. Perform and/or arrange for maintenance of all-in-one printers, projectors, and computers in the Frank Family Science Center. Submit work orders to Facilities for maintenance and repair issues in the Frank Family Science Center; coordinate with Facilities staff as necessary to ensure completion. Other duties as assigned.
