Position Overview
The Elementary Substitute Classroom Aide supports the daily instructional and supervisory needs of the classroom in the absence of the regular aide. This role helps maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment by assisting the teacher, supporting students, and ensuring that classroom routines continue smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing planned lessons and instructional activities.
- Provide support to individual students or small groups as directed by the teacher.
- Help maintain an orderly, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Supervise students during various parts of the school day, which may include classroom work time, transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
- Monitor student behavior and reinforce school expectations using positive strategies.
- Support students with organization, task completion, and engagement in learning activities.
- Assist with classroom preparation such as distributing materials, organizing supplies, and helping with cleanup.
- Follow established routines, guidelines, and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and students.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the functioning of the classroom or school.
