Job Purpose:
As a Mechanical Engineer at Guidon, you will design, analyze, and coordinate mechanical systems that deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing buildings across healthcare, government, education, and institutional projects. You will work closely with Project Managers, senior engineers, and architects to ensure technically excellent, code-compliant solutions, while supporting project delivery from concept through construction.
This role blends hands-on technical work, collaborative project leadership, and professional growth. You will contribute to developing team capabilities, mentor junior staff, participate in client meetings and design reviews, and take on increasing responsibility in projects. Your work will directly impact the team’s reputation, project success, and your own pathway toward senior engineering or leadership roles within Guidon.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of HVAC design experience, ideally within professional services firms.
- Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain within 1–2 years.
- Experience in healthcare, government, education, or institutional projects is a plus.
- Experience with Veteran Affairs (VA) projects is a plus
- Ability to work autonomously through project completion with minimal oversight.
- Strong experience creating construction documents for HVAC and ductwork/piping systems.
- Experience with creating construction documents for plumbing and medical gas is preferred but not required.
- Proactive, assertive, and solution-oriented in problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple project assignments simultaneously.
- Strong written and oral communication, teamwork, and client relationship skills.
- Energy modeling knowledge a plus.
- Mentorship and technical guidance for junior staff.
- Strong work ethic and drive to exceed project and discipline expectations.
- Develop high-quality mechanical construction documents for HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, and ductwork/piping systems, ensuring code compliance and technical excellence.
- Support project teams across multiple disciplines, including coordination with architects, structural engineers, and other engineers to deliver integrated, high-performing design solutions.
- Assist Project Managers in project planning, resource allocation, and schedule management, providing technical insight to inform decisions.
- Participate in client meetings and design reviews, contributing technical recommendations, problem-solving solutions, and professional expertise to guide project outcomes.
- Conduct site visits and construction administration to verify design implementation and quality standards.
- Prepare system narratives, Basis of Design documents, and specifications
- Mentor and coach junior staff, sharing knowledge, reviewing work, and helping develop their technical skills and professional growth.
- Contribute to internal process improvements, QA/QC protocols, and standard templates to increase efficiency, consistency, and design quality across projects.
- Explore innovative mechanical solutions, energy efficiency strategies, and sustainable systems to enhance project outcomes and expand the firm’s technical capabilities.
- Engage in professional development, including participation in professional organizations, conferences, and internal training initiatives, to strengthen both personal expertise and the team’s overall capabilities.
- Revit (5 years experience preferred)
- AutoCAD (basic proficiency)
