Nurse Practitioner (APRN)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive primary and infectious disease care to a diverse patient population. This role supports the clinical operations of New Hope Wellness Center (NHWC) by delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring efficient clinic flow.

Working under the supervision of the Medical Director, the NP is responsible for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, documentation, and follow-up care. The NP plays a critical role in improving health outcomes through prevention, education, and continuity of care.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide primary care and infectious disease services to patients
• Conduct physical examinations and clinical assessments
• Obtain and document patient medical histories and symptoms
• Develop and implement patient care plans; contribute to interdisciplinary care planning
• Order, administer, and interpret diagnostic tests
• Operate and monitor medical equipment as needed
• Diagnose acute and chronic health conditions
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
• Prescribe and administer medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations
• Evaluate patient responses to treatments and medications
• Collaborate with the Medical Director and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
• Educate patients and families on disease prevention, treatment plans, and health management
• Assist in onboarding and training new clinical staff as requested
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical records
• Support clinic operations, including scheduling and follow-up care coordination
• Travel (“rove”) between clinic locations within the assigned market as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or a compact state
• Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP)
• Current prescriptive authority and DEA certification (as applicable)
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN/APN) authorization in Oklahoma (Family Practice preferred)
• Proficiency with medical instruments, diagnostic equipment, and clinical procedures
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and data management tools
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, providers, and community partners
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA compliance
• Understanding of disease prevention and health promotion practices

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience providing primary care as a Family Nurse Practitioner
• Experience in infectious disease care, including HIV prevention and treatment
• Completion of the HIV Specialist Program through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) and credentialing as an HIV Specialist

• Ensure full compliance with HIPAA privacy and security standards

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be willing and able to travel between clinic sites
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed

FLSA Classification Review Recommended:
Nurse Practitioners are typically classified as exempt (learned professional exemption) under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The current classification as “non-exempt” should be reviewed to ensure compliance and alignment with industry standards.
