Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs and reporting changes promptly; maintain accurate medical records and documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Administer medications safely following medical terminology and medication protocols; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory impairments, including memory care techniques and dementia-specific activities.
- Support clients with complex medical needs such as catheter care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions; handle household chores including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate home health services and document medical procedures accurately for ongoing care management.
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in patient observation, medical documentation, and working with individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, CPR certification, and medication administration protocols.
- Experience operating EMR/EHR systems for accurate recordkeeping and compliance purposes.
- Long-term care experience involving patient care planning, hospice support, or working within senior or community care settings is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently in a live-in employment setting while maintaining professionalism and compassion at all times.
