Position Summary

The Clinical Care Assistant (CCA) Apprenticeship Program is an employee with minimal to no experience in the medical field who assist physicians and other health care providers in the intake and treatment of patients in the primary health care setting. This employee will be enrolled under an exclusive and extended training program. The CCA Trainee performs supervised work at the medical centers in unison with the content learned from the training program. The CCA Trainee will obtain on the job dynamic training and the opportunity to progress into a higher-level role once they have successfully completed the program. The position will require some nights and weekends and flexibility to manage a work and study schedule.

Essential Job Functions

Each of the job functions below will be performed progressively as the CCA Trainee is signed off on the skills by their preceptors.

Perform patients intake by measuring vital signs and recording information on patient chart

Assist with daily patient flow in areas as needed.

Maintain a safe and aesthetic environment.

Performs noninvasive procedures such as EKG, Diabetic Retinal Exam and assists in procedures/treatments as ordered by physician

Performs supervised lab work once the skill has been signed off by a nurse or physician as per physician orders and prepares instrumental equipment for sterilization.

Performs invasive nursing procedures only under supervision and after skills signed off by a nurse or physician, such as vaccine and medication administration via IM/SC/ID/Oral, among others.

Adheres to Nursing Department policies and procedures.

Checks equipment and supplies prior to use for function, inspection and expiration date; reports malfunction of medical equipment and safety issues to supervisor.

Complies with Infection Control and OSHA Regulations (biomedical wastes, handling and disposal) for the center as per regulations.

Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Degree of teamwork and cooperation with personnel from other departments.

Maintain a logging system for different procedures as required and enter nursing procedures and other information in the computer system.

Check medical records and follow up obtaining missing results prior to the patient's appointment.

Able to rotate weekends, holidays, and shifts and center location according to company needs.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

Required Education and Experience

High School or Technical school education.

BLS certification

Proficient English reading and writing communication

Reasoning ability, analytical skills and computer skills

Preferred Education and Experience

Education background in the science field
