As the Corporate Counsel, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. You will have a wide range of responsibilities, including legal research, contract review, policy drafting, media and marketing review, conflict of interest management, HR investigations, and providing legal advice on various P&C insurance underwriting/product, insurance licensing and compliance matters. To be an ideal candidate for this role, you will have a strong background in P&C insurance law and regulatory compliance, excellent analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Accountabilities:
- Conduct thorough research on legal and regulatory matters affecting the company and provide actionable insights, with special focus on underwriting and product expertise.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts to ensure compliance with legal standards and protect the company's interests.
- Develop and update company policies as needed to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Review media and marketing materials to ensure compliance with advertising laws and regulations.
- Conduct conflict of interest surveys and draft memos to address potential conflicts.
- Conduct investigations into HR-related legal issues and provide guidance on resolution.
- Provide legal advice on managing company and individual licensing, MGA/TPA, independent adjuster, and other requirements.
- Address and resolve compliance matters to ensure the company's adherence to legal standards.
- Assist in reviewing and responding to licensing subpoenas.
- Provide summaries and input regarding relevant new laws and regulations, and assist in their legal interpretation and implementation.
- Offer legal input for regulatory exams and respond to complaints.
- Design and conduct legal and regulatory audits of business functional areas.
- Update compliance training programs to ensure they meet current legal standards.
- Help refine internal business processes to enhance compliance and legal efficiency.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
