An IT Specialist (Equipment Configuration) is responsible for preparing, configuring, and deploying IT equipment such as computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and network devices. The role ensures that all hardware and software are properly installed, configured according to organizational standards, and ready for use by employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and deploy desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices
- Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and security settings
- Set up user accounts, system permissions, and device profiles
- Configure printers, scanners, monitors, and other peripherals
- Image and prepare devices using standardized system deployment tools
- Perform hardware upgrades and component installation (RAM, SSDs, etc.)
- Test equipment to ensure proper functionality before deployment
- Troubleshoot configuration and hardware issues
- Maintain inventory of IT equipment and assets
- Document configuration procedures and deployment steps
- Support device replacement and refresh cycles
- Ensure devices comply with company security and configuration policies
