The HSE Manager oversees the development, implementation, and monitors the company’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across multiple facilities. This role ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, promotes a safe workplace culture, and drives continuous improvement in safety performance.
The position requires strong knowledge of HSE standards, the ability to train and influence employees at all levels, and the discipline to maintain accurate documentation, inspections, and reports. This position drives a proactive, prevention-focused culture that ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while fostering stewardship of the company’s people, community, and resources. This individual both leads and executes initiatives that promote employee well-being, workplace safety, and operational excellence.
Regulatory Compliance
Internally: Works closely with Operations, Production and Maintenance to ensure safety compliance and drive a strong safety culture.
Externally: Interfaces with contractors, regulatory agencies, auditors, and insurance representatives as needed to maintain compliance and ensure safe operations.
Work Environment
This role operates both in an office environment and on the manufacturing floor. Approximately 50–70% of time is spent in the shop or field conducting audits, inspections, and training. Some travel to field or remote sites may be required (approx. 20-25%). This position is 100% in office/manufacturing and is not a remote/hybrid work schedule position.

Regulatory Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local HSE regulations, as well as corporate safety policies.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, job hazard analyses, and facility tours to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; document root causes; and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, including orientation, emergency response, and PPE usage.
- Champion and reinforce good house-keeping and 5S principles to drive safety culture improvements.
- Oversee emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and first-aid/medical response readiness.
- Manages hazardous waste disposal, air quality permits, chemical inventory, and other environmental compliance programs.
- Prepare and maintain required HSE reports, safety records, permits, and compliance documentation. Tracks, analyzes, and reports EH&S performance metrics; identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure contractors and visitors follow site HSE requirements and receive appropriate orientation.
- Support safety committees, behavioral safety programs, and initiatives to foster a proactive safety culture.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of contract security services to ensure protection of employees, facilities, and property.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 7 years of experience in an HSE, safety, or environmental compliance role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant HSE regulations and standards.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use safety reporting systems.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to train and influence employees across all levels.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled at conducting root cause analysis, audits, and risk assessments.
- Certifications: CSP, ASP, OSHA 30, or similar certifications preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, climb, bend, and stoop in a manufacturing environment; must be able to wear PPE as required.
