What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Lead position at Guardiar?
The Maintenance Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment and the facility. This role ensures optimal equipment reliability, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. The Maintenance Lead will actively perform maintenance tasks while leading a small team and partnering closely with the Production Manager to support production goals, safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
Oversee and supervise the daily operational activites to maintain all facility resouerces in good working order to ensure predictability of resources availability and uptime to support maximum functionaliuty and zero downtime. Ensures and supports the activities to comply with all municipal, state and federal level compliance requirements for environmental protection via proper waste management and disposal.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Communicates and consistently edifies the safe use of tools, and methods to help ensure no lost time accidents or close calls by all facility personnel both in the Office, on the Production Floor and in the open yard of the property.
- Work with Production Manager to set up training on said protocols and procedures with new hires and contractors and periodically conduct and execute monthly review with all staff members or part thereof as requested by direct leadership.
- Work with Production Manager on safety initiatives and participate in safety audits, inspections and corrective action plans.
- Support with safety programs to ensure Supervisors and Employees are oriented and supported in best safety practices. Reinforcing a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility.
- Develop preventative maintenance plans for all facility automation, machines, systems and utilities including but not limited to the Clifford Welded Wire Machine, the Powder Coat Line, all Compressors and Pneumatic Systems, Electrical Systems and any other necessary facility infrastructure as assigned by leadership.
- Present, review and gain functional support PM routines and follow up with assigned Team to ensure adequate execution supporting the goal of zero, unplanned downtime of and and all systems.
- Consistently review said routines for effectiveness and and maintain accurate maintenance records, logs and documentation.
- Identify and maintain a critical spare parts inventory, especially for components with long lead times.
- Ensure adequate stock levels to minimize operational disruptions.
- Coordinate sourcing and procurement of parts; place purchase orders (POs) for maintenance-related needs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Oversee any shop floor reorientation and repositioning of facility systems to ensure a safe an defective transition.
- Serve as primary liaison with all municipal, state and federal agencies in support of all regulatory and civil requirements as required by statute and law.
- Advise leadership of all requirements and work with leadership at all levels to ensure the requirements are met, supported and maintained.
- Develop, supervise and support the Team that executes all previously indicated facility spport activites.
- Provide technical expertise and support during production planning and problem solving activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Training and Development:
- Support training and certification programs for maintenance and production employees.
- Ensure compliance with required safety and technical training standards.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and team members on proper equipment care and safe operating procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Ability to train employees on acceptable and not acceptable behaviors to help ensure a safe work environment .
- Direct experience in manufacturing safety and preventative maintenance.
- Clifford Wire Panel Welding Machine maintenance a plus.
- Familiarity with maintenance systems (CMMS preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of industrial equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Ability to lift, bend, stand and work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
Education/Experience:
- High Scholl diploma required
- 5 years experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs
- 3 years experience on leadership activities
- Understanding of requirements of working in a matrix-managed business a plus
