We are seeking a skilled and mission-driven Guardianship Program Director to lead our Guardianship Program and support our Case Management team.
The Guardianship Program Director oversees all aspects of GSI’s guardianship program, including case management oversight, staff training and supervision, compliance, quality assurance, and ongoing development of program procedures. This leader ensures that services meet legal, ethical, professional, and contractual standards while supporting a high-performing team and maintaining strong relationships with community partners and the probate courts.
- Determine client eligibility and review intake assessments.
- Assign cases to Case Managers and monitor caseloads.
- Guide complex cases and ensure continuity of services.
- Oversee client documentation and maintain program quality assurance procedures.
- Review case notes and ensure compliance with guardianship standards.
- Supervise Case Managers and meet regularly to review cases.
- Provide initial and ongoing staff training on policies, procedures, and guardianship standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development.
- Ensure staff compliance with Texas Guardianship Certification requirements.
- Serve as or arrange for substitutes when staff are unavailable for hearings or appointments.
- Develop and update program procedures, including intake, assessment, quality assurance, and service termination processes.
- Collaborate with the CEO on key program framework and implementation.
- Oversee HHSC annual program evaluations and ensure compliance with HHSC contract requirements.
- Assist with reports for funders, the Board of Directors, and community partners.
- Liaise with referral sources, attorneys, community agencies, and probate courts.
- Ensure annual guardian reports to the Court are completed and filed on time.
- Coordinate with the Finance Manager on program billing and fee collection.
- Deliver presentations to promote understanding of the program.
- Oversee timekeeping and mileage reporting for case management staff.
- Represent GSI in community meetings and professional collaborations.
- Master of Social Work (MSW) or related degree with current licensure.
- Minimum 5 years working with older adults or individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- At least 2 years of staff supervision preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to manage crises with calm and professionalism.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of dementia, IDD populations, Medicaid, and community services.
- Understanding of court requirements and government agency procedures.
- Competence in developing and implementing systems and procedures.
- Computer literacy and documentation accuracy.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed and respond to after-hours calls (24/7).
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must be a Texas Certified Guardian (or meet qualifications to obtain certification).
