Role Description The Valve Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Kansas City, MO. This role is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining valves and related components on freight and tank cars to ensure safe and efficient operation. Day-to-day tasks include performing valve diagnostics, disassembly, repair, and replacement; conducting field service work at rail facilities; and calibrating and adjusting valves and process control equipment to meet specifications and regulatory requirements. The Valve Technician will troubleshoot mechanical and basic control issues, document work performed, and follow all safety procedures and company standards. This role collaborates with other technicians and operations personnel to support timely railcar turnaround and consistent service quality.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Valve Repair, including inspection, maintenance, and replacement of valves and related components.
- Candidates should possess Field Service experience, including work at rail yards or industrial sites and adherence to on-site safety and operating procedures.
- Candidates should possess Process Control and Calibration skills, including adjusting, testing, and verifying valve and control equipment performance to required standards.
- Candidates should possess Troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing mechanical and basic control issues and identifying effective repair solutions.
- Relevant mechanical or industrial maintenance experience in rail, transportation, or heavy industry is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, work orders, and regulatory requirements is beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field is beneficial.
- Capability to work safely in an outdoor, industrial environment, including lifting, climbing, and working around moving equipment.
