Job Title: Offshore Safety Medic / HSE

Experience Requirement: Minimum of 5 years prior experience in a Safety Medic role offshore.

Job Summary

The primary role of the Offshore Safety Medic is to promote client HSE initiatives and ensure work is conducted in compliance with all company HSE policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.

The Offshore Safety Medic provides comprehensive emergency medical response and HSE support during offshore decommissioning, plug and abandonment (P&A), and construction operations. This role combines frontline medical care with proactive health, safety, and environmental responsibilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company HSE standards in a high‑risk offshore environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Safety Medic is responsible for delivering immediate and ongoing medical care, managing occupational health risks, and supporting the safe execution of complex offshore activities including heavy lifts, well intervention, dismantling, and construction tasks. The role requires close collaboration with offshore management, HSE teams, and contractors to promote a strong safety culture and maintain workforce wellbeing.

  • Offshore Safety Awareness Training (SafeGulf or Equivalent)
  • TWIC Card
  • Emergency Medical Responder (State Certified)
  • EMT-Paramedic State Certification
  • NREMT-Paramedic (National Registry)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Hazardous Material Shipping
  • Scaffolding Safety Awareness Training
  • Confined Space Attendant / Entrant / Rescue (OSHA 1910.146)
  • Piping & Vessel Isolation Procedures (LOTO)
  • Marine Trash and Debris Training
  • Water Survival with HUET & Swing Rope Transfer
  • Air Monitoring / Gas Detectors
  • Fall Protection (OSHA 1926.500), including Rescue Planning
  • Fire Fighting - Incipient (OSHA 1910.157)
  • Rigger Training API RP 2D 6th Edition (Qualified Rigger)
  • SEMS II Awareness Training
Qualifications & Experience

Technical & Regulatory Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Isolation Authority experience
  • Competency in Risk Assessment, JSA/JHA, and Toolbox Talks
  • Familiarity with incident reporting and investigation processes
  • Knowledge of offshore federal regulations and industry standards (BSEE, Coast Guard, OSHA, EPA, API)
  • Environmental Awareness (waste segregation, hazardous materials, marine protection, and waste management)
  • Familiarity with SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations)
  • Well Control Awareness (IWCF/IADC awareness level or equivalent preferred), including well intervention risks, barrier management, and pressure control hazards
  • H2S Awareness (highly preferred / often mandatory)
  • Awareness of NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) risks and controls

Operational Experience

  • Practical experience supporting P&A, decommissioning, or offshore construction projects
  • Asset dismantling and removal (topsides and subsea decommissioning)
  • Heavy lifts and crane operations
  • Structural cutting and dismantling
  • Hot work and energy isolation (LOTO)

Professional Skills

  • Strong emergency response and decision‑making skills
  • High level of situational awareness during high‑risk operations
  • Ability to challenge unsafe acts professionally
  • Confidence working in high‑risk environments
  • Ability to work independently on project-based jobs in remote offshore environments
  • Clear communication and reporting skills
  • Professional approach to confidentiality and workforce wellbeing
